Karneval der Kulturen

After a three-year break mostly due to Covid-19, Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of the Cultures) is back in Kreuzberg. The carnival that takes place these days between May 26 and May 29 (including the parade of course on May 28) is considered the biggest annual carnival in Berlin. Every year, participants from all over the globe come to Berlin in order to present their culture and take part in the parade.

Karneval der Kulturen - The parade

For me, this carnival symbolizes the tolerance of the city of Berlin towards the diversity of its residents. I see this carnival as a goal to bring together people from different cultures and create an atmosphere of cooperation. Throughout the duration of the event, you can enjoy a huge variety of food stands in the Kreuzberg area (near Hallesches Tor U Bahn)

From Mehringdamm U Bahn station to Hermannplatz U Bahn station you can see crowds of people celebrating this event. Berlin's vibe & liberalism is all over the place and you can also see residents observing this huge event from their home windows

In case you are interested in visiting Berlin, this is the most perfect time of the year in my humble opinion when you can visit the city both due to the fact that you will be able to enjoy great weather and because you will be able to see this amazing carnival. Beyond that, you will find countless food and drink stands during the carnival.

The carnival is considered a particularly powerful and emotional event, during which you will be exposed to different cultures. I highly recommend seeing it if you come to visit Berlin at the end of May.
