2A Hostel

Since Berlin is considered one of the most popular cities in the world in terms of immigration, one of the big challenges in Berlin is finding a long-term apartment. The main problem in the housing market is that there is more demand than supply. A landlord who offers his apartment for rent in a central area of the city could soon receive hundreds of applicants who are interested in renting the apartment.

Many times it will not be easy to find a long-term apartment so one of the effective solutions is to stay in a hostel. I remember staying at 2A Hostel Located at Saalestraße 76, in Neukölln (a walking distance from Neukölln S + U Bahn station), and there I met  young immigrants with great motivation to find a long term apartment and stay in Berlin. Some were at the beginning of their journey and saw the hostel as a cost-effective solution for them, and some simply found themselves in a situation where they could not find an apartment in the city.

From time to time, when I walk through the area and see that same hostel, I remember my immigration journey and the time I spent there. Remember that in your immigration journey you will have to be flexible and sometimes that means living below the standard of living to which you are accustomed. Staying in a hostel and adapting to new conditions will strengthen you more in your immigration journey.

While staying at 2A Hostel I was very busy. I would go out in the mornings and during the day apply for job opportunities and go to job interviews and in the afternoon I would learn German intensively in the German school die deutSCHule. I would only return to the hostel in the evening and at that time I did not have time to cook. One of the effective solutions was to buy a takeaway of noodles at the end of each day from a Chinese food stand, and eat that takeaway at the hostel. The evening at the hostel was calm and during that time I did my homework for the German language course in the lobby of the hostel. In the evening it was possible to buy a drink from the hostel's bar and have conversations with the other guests at the hostel. Some of the guests watched TV on a big screen and some were busy with their laptops.
