Nostalgic moments - No price for freedom

The period was the end of December of 2016. Approximately one month after I landed in Berlin without a work visa, no apartment and no connections. The first apartment I moved into was Anna's apartment (before I moved into Anna's apartment I lived in an Airbnb apartment). A young German woman by the name of Anna who had to sublet her apartment for a period of three weeks due to her vacation trip to Morocco. The apartment was located at Friedrichshain (Modersohnstraße) area and at the time I did not even have a smartphone, just a regular mobile device and a regular camera. Although I still had no connections and was at the beginning of my journey, it was important for me to photograph the snow that covered the city of Berlin and turned it into a white city. At that time of utter uncertainty I have maintained optimism and knew that this was the beginning of a unique journey. A journey that will change my life forever.

What gave me the strength to keep going you must be asking? The answer is the strong desire to build a new life. better life. I knew there was no price for freedom and no price for a better and a high quality of life. No matter what  difficulties I will have in my immigration process I will deal with them and overcome them because I am willing to pay any price for my freedom. The immigration process is my life's mission and I will be able to carry it out at any cost required of me. I knew it was not a temporary transition but a permanent change of life. In addition, I knew that this was a window of opportunity that could not be missed, I had to use it immediately because it might no longer exist in the future.

The snow was heavy but at the same time I was happy to see it. Throughout my journey the snow accompanied me, calmed me and served as my anchor. In hindsight, the snow in Berlin was and remains one of my best friends. Maybe the Berlin of 2016 was purer and more virgin? What is certain is that the city does not stop changing before my eyes and is still considered in my humble opinion to be one of the most attractive cities for immigrants. Even before I arrived in Berlin, I knew how to recognize the charm of it, since it is a different city from other European cities ...
